Well Hello My Friends!

Hope everyone is healthy, happy and enjoying their summer! It has been a few months since I have posted anything and honestly it’s just been kinda routine with the new normal here at the store. Business has been great this summer (Thanks to you) with tons of projects, remodeling and new construction going on.

Lumber and panels are slowly coming down (but it is hurricane season) to a more appropriate cost and most commodity items have been easier to get our hands on. Some items of course are still plagued by rising costs and long lead times but all in all most material is getting easier to source.

Some of those items that are still having longer lead times are windows, doors, paint, different types of sidings and brick for sure! If I have learned anything over the past couple of years to pass along to anyone building anything it would be to Plan Ahead and don’t assume any availability based on past purchases. What has always taken two days for us to replenish is sometimes taking weeks to get so don’t get caught watching the paint dry (pun intended).

Most all of our builder and contractor customers are still months if not over a year behind and their phones are still ringing so that’s a good sign of what business is on the horizon.

Some of our standout items this summer have been Westbury Handrails, Lp Smart Siding, Trex decking and of course lumber in general. It was a fine day years ago when we made the switch to premium lumber products because they are soooo much better than your lesser quality #2 offerings.

I try not to put our competitor’s names out when writing but the other day I took a walk around our yard with a new customer and he asked me how we compare to big box store prices. I told him if quality mattered then there was no comparison. They have a team of experts that handle their pricing and they will be the cheapest on standard 8ft lengths and other items they know people most often price out but most of the time we kill them on the 10, 12, 14,16, 18, 20,24 and 28ft lumber. We spend a huge amount of time sourcing quality materials that they do not do! Sure we can’t touch their hours of operation, No you can’t purchase a garden gnome statue here, sorry but we are all out of pansies but if you want a nice piece of premium quality lumber to build that one time deck, fence, furniture or new home we have you covered!
