The last few years have been a Whirlwind in the Lumber trading game. Whether you were selling lumber or installing lumber it has been the craziest time to be in our industry. I am happy to report that hopefully the madness has somewhat calmed down and the tide has turned (for now anyway). Spruce lumber has reached a middle of the road retail price. Some wide items 2×10 and 2×12 will continue to fall for the next short term with some narrows such as 2×4 going up a few pennies. Yellow Pine framing and treated is on the same path with most items firming up prices and some still dropping a touch more. OSB has been dropping like a rock and has probably reached an overall average price of where it typically retails not to mention prices are still coming off weekly.

All in all it isn’t a bad time at all to make your lumber purchases and most items are easier for us to source than they have been in the last few months. Keep in mind we are in hurricane season and it will only take a mention of a large storm to send prices soaring again. When working with any commodity item who knows when prices will jump or squat but when looking into my crystal ball this morning it seems like calm seas on this current heading! Hope this helps!
